MAKING A SPLASH

INTERMEDIATE COMMUNITY MANAGER
Working at Big Viking Games gave me the opportunity to thrive in my first Community Manager role! Acting as the sole Community Manager for their title Fish World, I interacted with the player base as 'Rachel Anemone' (pictured above in an in game asset!) making sure that their voices were heard in product decisions. One of the best parts of my job was giving our fans outlets to share their creativity with each other through our Facebook Community Group and Fan Page and further inspiring them with fun contests and challenges.

Unique to our game was our player base; there are so many different playstyles amongst our fans and a variety of use cases for the game in their lives. A key part of my role was understanding a passionate demographic that had be previously unfamiliar to me - but with empathy and conversation I truly got to know our players and love the community they're a part of.

A VPN WITH A HEART

TECHNICAL SUPPORT ENGINEER
While my primary role at TunnelBear was a Technical Support Engineer, it was a passion project of mine to grow our social media following on Instagram as it wasn't being utilized.
This project inspired me to enroll and receive a Certificate in Social Media Marketing at George Brown College while also working full time. With the skills I gained, I was able to quickly grow our following of a few hundred users to nearly 2000 within a year.
One of my main drives to grow our Instagram was to humanize the 'Bears behind the Business' by showcasing company talent while sharing imagery and messages that aligned with our values.

BRAND AMBASSADOR
From 2014 to 2018, I had the extraordinary opportunity to travel the United States with Wizards of the Coast promoting their products at a variety of conventions including PAX Prime, PAX East, and Gen Con Indy. At these conventions I worked with a small team to build booths, demo products, and act as a representative of WotC for the players. I also educated attendees on a variety of products and new services, while also getting to take part in the on-stage ceremonies for their PAX Prime 2018 Kaladesh content.

COMMUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY PEOPLE

Almost every gamer has interacted with Discord in one way or another, and because it's become so popular with many communities I've dedicated a lot of my free time learning how to build my own and utilize it's different features. In addition to my own personal Discord server for my Twitch/friends, I also co-run SMCMG - a space for Community people, and I volunteer my time to other communities to help them run events!
